ECOES. Objective and Structured Clinical Evaluation Tests.<\/p>\n

The Faculty of Medicine of the University Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez<\/strong><\/a> (UMH) has carried out tests of cynical objective assessment and structured (ECOES).<\/p>\n

Who participated in the UMH ECOES?<\/h2>\n

About 117 students<\/strong> of the Department of Clinical Medicine<\/a> conducted those tests. Between days 11 and 12 June were developed in the facilities of the University Hospital of Sant Joan d\u2019Alacant (Spain)<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Who organized the the UMH Objective and Structured Clinical Evaluation Tests?<\/h2>\n

Antonio Compa\u00f1<\/a>, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the UMH, and Jos\u00e9 Manuel Ramos<\/a>, professor of Medicine of UMH, were coordinators on this occasion.
\nThe students of Medicine of UMH<\/a> had to overcome compulsorily a series of stages to finish the studies of Medicine.<\/p>\n

What were the UMH ECOES about?<\/h2>\n

The ECOES<\/strong> were structured in 20 stations consisting of:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • medical activities simulating real clinical situations.<\/li>\n
  • mannequins,<\/li>\n
  • simulated patients,<\/li>\n
  • structured issues,<\/li>\n
  • possibility of joint assessment of the promotion,<\/li>\n
  • analysis of different skills, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This set of activities also have a formative character enabling student self-evaluation and great feedback.
    \nTheir results allow students get a personal assessment of their competencies and identify strengths as well as weaknesses.
    \nFor its part, is key to the professors of the Department of Clinical Medicine of UMH<\/strong> when preparing a guide to orientation towards students; establishing training needs and strengthening identification with the health sciences. In this set of tests objective, ECOES, the student must prove the set of competencies acquired in different parameters.<\/p>\n

    • anamnesis,<\/li>\n
    • physical examination,<\/li>\n
    • diagnostic and therapeutic, management,<\/li>\n
    • technical and communication skills,<\/li>\n
    • health education,<\/li>\n
    • interprofessional relations<\/li>\n
    • and bioethics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      About 137 people have been necessary<\/strong> for these tests of Objective and Structured Clinical Evaluation<\/em>, ECOES: evaluators, standardized patients, actors and actresses, logisticians, professors from other universities and computer.
      \nIn addition, about 27 professors designed the stations<\/strong>, supervised by a Committee of 7 experts.
