{"id":23320,"date":"2020-03-18T12:41:14","date_gmt":"2020-03-18T12:41:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/departamentomedicinaclinica.edu.umh.es\/?p=23320"},"modified":"2024-02-23T10:38:41","modified_gmt":"2024-02-23T10:38:41","slug":"conclusiones-seminario-coronavirus-sars-cov-2-examen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/departamentomedicinaclinica.umh.es\/en\/2020\/03\/18\/conclusiones-seminario-coronavirus-sars-cov-2-examen\/","title":{"rendered":"Conclusions of the seminar &#8220;The New SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus under review&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On February 28, the <\/span><b>seminar<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/comunicacion.umh.es\/2020\/02\/27\/las-perspectivas-presentes-y-futuras-del-coronavirus-sars-cov-2-a-debate-en-un-seminario-en-la-umh\/\" title=\"You'll see it in a new window\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b> The new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus under review<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> organized by the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/masterinfecciosas.edu.umh.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Chair of Infectious Diseases and VIH <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miguel Hernandez University, and in which professors from the <\/span><b>Department of Clinical Medicine <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the <\/span><b>Miguel Hernandez University of Elche.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Conclusions of the professors of the Department of Clinical Medicine UMH in the seminar The New SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus under examination<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The specialists who participated in the seminar wanted to make clear two main ideas:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the province&#8217;s preparation against the virus<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the advantages of the arrival of heat to stop the effects of the coronavirus.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First of all, they guaranteed that the province of Alicante is fully prepared with <\/span><b>action protocols <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that they aim not to repeat the same crisis that has been experienced in China.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the protocols that has been implemented in the province is the <\/span><b>home care. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Health personnel go to the patient&#8217;s home to carry out the pertinent tests, so that the risk to the outside is minimized. It is a contagious virus but, unlike the two outbreaks that occurred in 2002 and 2012, its mortality is much lower\u00bb, <\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said the UMH professor <\/span><b>Mar Masi\u00e1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, one of the organizers of the seminar, together with the professor<\/span> <b>F\u00e9lix Guti\u00e9rrez<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19252 size-full\" title=\"Professor Dra. Mar Masi\u00e1 also participated in the The new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 seminar under examination at the UMH\" src=\"http:\/\/departamentomedicinaclinica.edu.umh.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1455\/2014\/11\/Mar-Masia-Canuto-Departamento-Medicina-Cli\u0301nica-UMH.jpeg\" alt=\"Mar Masi\u00e1 Canuto is a professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine UMH coronavirus\" width=\"126\" height=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Secondly, another of the main axes of the seminar was the rise in temperatures and the arrival of spring as a brake on the coronavirus<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La responsable de la secci\u00f3n de <\/span><b>Infectious Diseases of the General Hospital of Elche and professor of the <\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/departamentomedicinaclinica.edu.umh.es\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Department of Clinical Medicine of the UMH <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stressed that \u00ab<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with the arrival of good weather and rising temperatures, the incidence of respiratory viruses is much lower\u00bb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abA great alarm has been generated by the excess of information, but panic is not justified. We are facing a new infection and protection measures are key. The main symptoms are cough and fever\u00bb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, said <\/span><b>Mar Masi\u00e1.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along with the organizers of the seminar &#8220;The new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus under examination&#8221;, other professors such as  <\/span><b>Victoria Ortiz de la Tabla, Sergio Padilla and Javier Garc\u00eda Abell\u00e1n.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the course of the seminar, professor<\/span><b>Padilla <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">spoke of the transmission of the coronavirus, and of the doubts that are being raised for the future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19173 size-full\" title=\"Professor Dr. Sergio Padilla participated in the Seminar The New SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus under examination by the UMH\" src=\"http:\/\/departamentomedicinaclinica.edu.umh.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1455\/2014\/11\/Sergio-Padilla-Urrea-Departamento-Medicina-Clinica-UMH.jpg\" alt=\"Sergio Padilla Urrea coronavirus Department of Clinical Medicine UMH\" width=\"140\" height=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abIn countries such as Algeria, Ethiopia or Nigeria, the epidemic is expected to be greater because, apart from having fewer health facilities, they have a large commercial relationship with China.\u00bb, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">claimed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Padilla <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also provided data on the hypotheses that are currently being considered:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abFor each infected, the virus is transmitted to two or three more people. What is worrying is that there are affected people who have not had symptoms and have been able to eliminate the virus, which increases the risk. Coronavirus is not expressing itself the same in Asians as in Europeans, which causes its evolution to be different depending on the area&#8221;.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, <\/span><b>Doctor Garc\u00eda <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">talked about the differences between the virus and the disease. He also said coughing, fever and shortness of breath are the main symptoms of coronavirus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, <\/span><b>Diario Informaci\u00f3n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, did a<\/span><b>interview with Dr. Felix Gutierrez, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professor of Infectious Diseases and Director of the Department of Clinical Medicine at UMH. He also talked about the at-risk population, and whether it can really disappear with the advent of heat, as with SARS-1:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSummer is not good for any virus, although it is not always the case. SARS 1 subsided in June and disappeared, that is what is expected and desirable, although it is risky to make forecasts. What happened to SARS 1 was an enigma because with the same virulence that appeared, it disappeared.
